Facing eviction? Don't give up your home without a fight.
You may have more time and more rights than you think. Our app shows you exactly what to do, one simple step at a time. It fills in your court papers for you and texts you before every deadline, so nothing sneaks up on you.
- Every state plus Washington, D.C.
- Court papers filled in for you
- Text reminders before each deadline
Everything you need to stand up for yourself
Made for real people, not lawyers. Big buttons, plain words, one question at a time. Works on any phone.
Tell us what papers you got. We show you what to do next and the exact date you must do it by, using your state's rules.
Your Answer, a request to waive court fees, a request for more time, and more. Answer simple questions and the paper is ready.
Ask for a payment plan, repairs, a copy of your rent records, or more time to move. Ready to sign, print or mail.
Sign with your finger, then download, print, or send by certified mail. We show you where to file and what to bring.
Missing one date can mean losing your case without a hearing. We text you 3 days before, the day before, and the day of.
Snap a photo and the app reads the dates and names for you. You check every answer before it is used.
Photos of repairs, rent receipts and texts with your landlord, saved and ready to show the judge.
Every screen, every reminder, and a read-aloud button if reading is hard. Free legal aid phone numbers for your state, too.

Evictions move fast. In some states you have only 3 to 5 days to answer court papers. If you miss it, the judge can rule against you without ever hearing your side. The sooner you start, the more choices you have.
See if we can helpQuestions tenants ask us
How much does it cost?
Our help costs $395 one time for 90 days of help, or $179 a month with no contract. Can't pay it all at once? Ask us about splitting it into smaller payments.
Is this a lawyer?
No. Eviction Defender is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It is a tool that helps you prepare your own papers, using your answers and your state's forms and rules. We also show you free legal aid in your state, and you can talk to a lawyer at any time.
Will this stop my eviction?
No one can promise that. What we can do is help you answer on time, use the rights your state gives you, ask for more time when the law allows it, and walk into court prepared. Many tenants lose only because they missed a deadline.
What if I can't pay my back rent?
The app can make a letter asking your landlord for a payment plan, and it shows you rental help programs in your state.
Do I need a computer?
No. Everything works on a phone, even an older one. You can take pictures of your papers with your phone's camera.
What if I already have a lockout order?
Once there is a lockout order or a sheriff's notice, our program is not the right fit. Call free legal aid or go to the court clerk right away. Some courts can still give you a little more time.
